Pre-Kindergarten at Highlands Christian School is a joy-filled experience of happy songs and simple prayers that engage children in activities that combine play and learning in a teacher-directed environment.

The foundational stones of the Carden Method are first introduced in Pre-K. Your child will learn initial consonant sounds, numerical concepts, shapes, colors, and nursery rhymes that develop pre-analyzation skills by answering who, doing, what, when and where. Biblically, your child will hide God’s word in their hearts through weekly recitations and learn to appreciate God’s creation. Your child will learn to communicate with and respect others, build friendships, and practice good manners. Daily activities will enhance your child's motor development and creativity and provide an awareness of time management.

Education is not passive at Highlands Christian School — it is an active pursuit. Throughout the school year, weekly themes of friendship & sharing, manners & kindness, nutrition & healthy habits, Earth Day & recycling and seasonal units remind the students that learning goes beyond the classroom. Each unit is carefully crafted to stimulate a love of learning while preparing your child for Kindergarten. Our Pre-Kindergarten students also attend weekly music classes and learn the building blocks of French.

Pre K meets three full days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with a five day option enrichment option available as well. The school day begins at 8:15 AM, and students are picked up at 3:00 PM each day.

Children must be 4 years old by September 1.
