Second Grade

Second grade will be taught by Mrs. Drue Johnstone Puckett in the 2023-24 school year. Mrs. Puckett has 28 years of teaching experience.

Second grade is a most special year for our students. They are independent readers participating in the A.R. (Accelerated Reader) program, as well as gaining confidence and skills in their math facts and daily “math meetings.” Second grade’s science and social studies units consist of field trips, multiple in-house events, and special reports. A sampling of these units includes the rainforest, nocturnal animals, Texas Day, and desert animals. Language arts, cursive, poetry, spelling, and literature round out our daily class schedule, as well as weekly specials classes of music, art, computer, and French. Daily P.E. classes and multiple recesses each day successfully enable our students to receive a balanced blend of structure and fun within each day.
