Mrs. Carol Burum and Mrs. Landry Snelling are our first grade teachers. 

First grade marks the first of three years of Lower Elementary at Highlands Christian School, and the first of many academic traditions: memorizing and reciting poetry, dictation, and sentence analysis. While many privileges come with entering first grade, more responsibility and independence is also given in comparison to Early Childhood.

Students create research reports and special hands-on projects to go along with several engaging and memorable units such as reptiles, spiders, Alaska, Texas State Fair, Abraham Lincoln, nutrition, and Beatrix Potter. In no time at all, you will be able to appreciate your child’s marked growth in confidence and tenacity this year.
